New Flameproof Underground Compactor

New Flameproof Underground Compactor

Elgin Flameproofing is proud to announce that the Company has completed a successful project by customizing a Standard CA255 Dynapac to meet the customers’ requirements for Zone 0 application, height restrictions and Rob’s & Fob’s canopy to mention a few.

Managing Director, Peet Hartman says that their equipment is not new to the industry but the need for strict compliance for the underground mining and hazardous explosive conditions needed some design modifications.

The new highly efficient compactor was developed in partnership with Dynapac SA and Cobra Petro Projects (Pty Ltd). The compactor will complement Elgin Flameproofing’s growing fleet of flameproof vehicles for the mining industry.

The unit is driven by a CAT 3504C 95kW engine supplied by Barlow World, who have had a close and valuable working relationship with Elgin for many years.

Basic specifications include a certified Elgin designed dry type scrubber flameproof coolant package.

The systems are approved by the South African Inspection Authority and the Department of Minerals Resources.

A fully comprehensive aftersales service and support team is available to assist with onsite operator training, technical training and maintenance.  Manuals containing certification and operator information accompanies every vehicle sold.

Elgin services various large OEM suppliers who require equipment that needs to be flame proofed. An example is fork lifts and loaders that are used in hazardous areas throughout industry.

LHD. Refurbish.

Elgin Flameproofing has successfully refurbished several LHD conversions where the old machines were given an extended life by replacing the existing engines with Cat C7.1 162kW engines at a fraction of the cost of a new machine.

The company, which was established 42 years ago, has grown from strength to strength.   Elgin Flameproofing is the trading arm for Diesel Flameproof Equipment which is a division of Intakobusi Holdings.
